Continuing to prove how little she knows about anything, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is now under fire for comments she made about 9/11 and how the United States responded with the Authorization to Use Military Force (AUMF).
Things began with Ocasio-Cortez coming to the defense of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitic comments on Twitter. There she asked Rep. Juan Vargas to “further explain his stance here that it’s unacceptable to even *question* US foreign policy.” AOC then began to reference the Iraq war, much to her misfortune.
After twenty minutes of backlash AOC was forced to admit that she meant to reference the Afghanistan war. Although she didn’t back down, claiming the United States shouldn’t have been deployed to either.
Twitter was immediately alight with comments blasting the freshman congresswoman. Chief among them was Amherst College Professor Mark Jacobson, who blasted Ocasio-Cortez for being so “ignorant.”
It’s doubtful that this will be the last time AOC’s lack of knowledge on American history will come back to bite her.
