Barr BLASTS Mueller: ‘Shouldn’t Have Investigated’

While testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Attorney General William Barr suggested that special counsel Robert Mueller failed in his duties. 

Specifically addressing the charges of obstruction, Sen. Charles Grassley asked Barr, “Was it the special counsel’s responsibility to make a charging decision?”

“I think the Deputy Attorney General [Rod Rosenstein] and I thought it was,” Barr answered before adding that “If he wasn’t going to go down the path of making a traditional prosecutive decision, he shouldn’t have investigated.” 

Mueller has claimed before that the Justice Department policy against prosecuting a sitting president led to him leaving the question of obstruction open, which ultimately led to Barr deciding based on the evidence that Trump was innocent.
